Dr. Rahman is currently a Professor at the Department of Pathology, Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh. He obtained his bachelor degree in veterinary medicine and master degree in pathology both from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh. Dr. Rahman started his research career in 2001 at Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute as a Scientific Officer where he worked on poultry diseases with experts from Japan under the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) funded project. He received his PhD. in Veterinary Microbiology & Immunology from Chonbuk National University, Republic of Korea in 2011. In his doctoral study, Dr. Rahman constructed attenuated Salmonella vaccine expressing chicken interferon-α and chicken interleukin-18 and evaluated its antiviral and immunomodulatory properties against low pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus and Newcastle Disease Virus. From September 2011 through February 2012, Dr. Rahman worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the same institute and his research was focused on meta-immunobiological study and therapeutic implication of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells expanded by acute infection with zoonotic flaviviruses. As a Senior Research Scientist, Dr. Rahman performed molecular vaccine research with Salmonella Research Group at Veterinary Research Institute, Czech Republic from July 2013 to June Dr. Rahman’s research mainly focuses on immunity and vaccine; zoonoses and public health and
antimicrobial resistance. To date Dr. Rahman published 77 peer reviewed articles, 01 book and 05
training manuals. Dr. Rahman is having professional membership in many national and international
scientific societies. He attended many national and international scientific seminars/conferences and
presented his research findings. Dr. Rahman is contributing as a reviewer and editor for many peer
reviewed journals. In recognition of his scientific contribution, Dr. Rahman received the UGC Award
2015 from the Hon’ble President, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Best Publication Award 2016
from the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the Sylhet Agricultural University and the Venus International
Research Award-VIRA 2016, India as an Outstanding Scientist in Veterinary Medicine. Currently, Dr.
Rahman is working at the National Research Center for Protozoan Diseases (NRCPD), Obihiro University of
Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Obihiro, Japan as a JSPS Invitational Fellow to elucidate the role of
Neospora caninum surface antigen 1 (NcSAG1) in the pathogenesis of neosporosis using CRISPR Cas
gene editing technology.
